“Buddy” stabbed to death at Good Hope

A 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed during an altercation at Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, shortly after midnight on Monday.
Dead is Navin Jangbir, called “Buddy”, a joiner of Phase 1, Good Hope.
According to police sources, Jangbir left his home at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, telling relatives that he would return shortly.
At about 12:30 a.m., a commotion was heard outside the family’s residence. Jangbir was reportedly seen involved in an argument with several males who were travelling on scooters.
The confrontation escalated, with the men reportedly rushing towards Jangbir. He subsequently ran into his yard, where he collapsed with blood visible on his body.
Another account indicated that two men involved in the confrontation allegedly pelted Jangbir with a brick. Jangbir reportedly picked up a piece of wood and struck one of the men before a scuffle ensued.
During the confrontation, Jangbir was heard complaining of pain in his abdomen before collapsing on the roadway. He later managed to run into his yard, where he collapsed again.
Relatives who approached him reportedly discovered that he had sustained a serious stab wound.
Family members attempted to place him in a vehicle to transport him to hospital, but he died before he could be taken for medical treatment.
The police were subsequently contacted and responded to the scene.
Jangbir’s body was later taken to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing are ongoing.
