Team Guyana

Guyana  is gearing up for the opening ceremony of the 25th Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Santo Domingo, with a 55-strong contingent set to compete across 10 sporting disciplines.

The historic centennial edition of the Games, marking 100 years of the world’s oldest continuously held regional multi-sport event, gets underway on Friday evening at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium with an opening production featuring over 200 performers and drone displays.

Guyanese athletes will be competing in boxing, men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball, table tennis, athletics, squash, weightlifting, taekwondo, archery, and chess.

Delegations from several of these disciplines took part in the traditional flag-raising ceremony ahead of the opening, alongside Chef de Mission Keniesha Headley and Guyana Olympic Association officials.

The Games come at a poignant moment for the nation following the tragic M.V. Barima incident.

In a mark of respect and solidarity, organisers will fly Guyana’s national flag, the Golden Arrowhead, at half-mast during the ceremony as the team aims to demonstrate unity and resilience on the regional stage.
