U.S. intensifies Iran strikes as military death toll climbs

The United States has carried out an eighth consecutive night of military strikes against Iran, further escalating tensions across the Middle East following a series of deadly attacks on U.S. forces in the region.

The renewed air campaign comes after U.S. officials confirmed that at least two American service members were killed in an Iranian attack in Jordan. The U.S. military has also announced a third fatality in recent days after a service member was killed Saturday in northern Iraq during the controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian attack drone, according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

U.S. officials said the latest strikes targeted Iranian military infrastructure, including coastal surveillance and air defense systems, as Washington seeks to weaken Tehran’s ability to threaten U.S. forces and international shipping routes in the region.

Meanwhile, several U.S. allies in the Middle East reported additional Iranian missile and drone attacks on Sunday, underscoring fears that the conflict could spread further across the region. Air defense systems in multiple Gulf countries were activated as regional governments worked to intercept incoming threats.

The latest developments mark a significant escalation in hostilities between Washington and Tehran, with casualties mounting on both sides and growing international concern over the potential for a broader regional war.

Diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation continue, but military operations remain ongoing as both nations exchange strikes.
