Cuban labourer found dead in Mahaica drain

A 54-year-old Cuban labourer, Jose Antonio Rajas Ramos, was found dead in a concrete drain outside KK Gas Station at Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, on Monday morning.
According to police, Ramos had left his family’s home at Green Field, East Coast Demerara, around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday with a friend. The two reportedly travelled by bicycle to the gas station to purchase alcoholic beverages.
Relatives became concerned after the friend returned home alone about two hours later and said he could not locate Ramos.
A search was launched, and Ramos was found at around 7:00 a.m. the following day in a drain near the gas station.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear as investigations continue.
