Sophia Residents Receive Keys to Core Homes

In a heartwarming ceremony earlier today, Minister Susan Rodrigues, serving within the Ministry of Housing and Water, proudly presented four core homes to deserving residents of Sophia.

This gesture marks a significant step in addressing housing challenges and improving living conditions within the community.

The fortunate recipients of these homes are as follows:

Mr. Walter April, residing at lot 1326 Cummings Lodge.

Ms. Gena Barker, occupying lot 3076 Section D Turkeyen, Sophia.

Ms. Dorette La Rose, residing at lot 806 Section C Turkeyen, Sophia.

Ms. Candacy Pitt, residing at lot 243 Section C Turkeyen, Sophia.

Prior to receiving these core homes, the recipients shared poignant stories of living in dire conditions, highlighting the transformative impact of the Core Home Programme. Through this initiative, they were afforded the opportunity to apply for a home, with a minimal contribution of only $100,000.

These homes, with an estimated value of approximately $4 million each, stand as a testament to the commitment of the Ministry of Housing in providing quality housing solutions to Guyanese citizens.

Built with care and precision by the Ministry, they represent not just physical structures, but symbols of hope and progress for these families and the wider community.

As Minister Rodrigues handed over the keys to each recipient, there was an atmosphere of joy and gratitude, with expressions of heartfelt thanks echoing throughout the gathering.

This event serves as a reminder of the importance of government initiatives in uplifting the lives of citizens and fostering inclusive development across the nation.
