Emergency works to disrupt WCD power supply

Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) has advised customers on the West Coast Demerara to prepare for a temporary interruption in electricity supply as emergency maintenance works are carried out in Vreed-en-Hoop.
According to the utility company, the emergency works are necessary to remove vegetation threatening the L6 Transmission Line, which interconnects the Kingston and Vreed-en-Hoop substations, and to safeguard the integrity of the electricity network.
Customers between Hague and Best Village are expected to experience a power outage from approximately 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
GPL said the emergency maintenance is essential to ensure the continued safety, reliability and stability of the power network.
The company apologised for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience and understanding.
