“Cat man” stabbed to death during confrontation

A late-night drinking session at Haswell, Port Mourant, Corentyne, turned deadly after a 27-year-old labourer was fatally stabbed during an argument in the early hours of Tuesday.
Dead is Naresh Seecharran, also known as “Cat Man,” of Glasgow, East Bank Berbice.
According to police, Seecharran and several others, were consuming alcohol and playing music when an exchange of jokes escalated into an argument.
The confrontation reportedly developed into a scuffle during which Seecharran allegedly armed himself with a knife from a nearby kitchen.
According to police sources, the suspect, 20-year-old construction worker Parmeshwar Lionel, called “Small Man,” is said to have disarmed him before stabbing him once to the left side of the neck and fleeing the scene.
Seecharran was rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
An examination of the body confirmed a stab wound to the left side of his neck.
Acting on information received, investigators later arrested Lionel at No. 19 Village, Corentyne, Berbice. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
The body has since been taken to the Ramoo Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
