Three persons were on Tuesday found guilty by a 12-member jury of murdering Crabwood Creek, Berbice trader Shameer Ali Mursalin following a trial at the High Court in Berbice. Those convicted are: businessman Dennis Veerasammy and his two employees Delroy Fraser and Basheer Harrinauth. The killing took place on October 24, 2015, at the now dead man’s home.

The three convicted killers were remanded to prison until June 2, 2021, when probation reports will be presented followed by sentencing. The trial was conducted before Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall. Versammy was represented by Attorney-at-law Brandon DeSantos. Fraser and Harrinauth were represented by Attorney-at-law Chandra Sohan.

State Counsel Tuanna Hardy appeared on behalf of the prosecution.

According to reports, the Police were summoned to Veersammy’s home to investigate reports of threatening language and abusive language. When ranks arrived there,  they called out for Veersammy but got no response. As such, with the help of his sister, they ventured into his yard and found his body lying in a pool of blood. Following investigations, Veersammy and his employees were arrested and charged.
