Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat is leading a Guyanese delegation at the 6th edition of the Suriname Energy, Oil and Gas Summit and Exhibition (SEOGS 2026), which is being held in Paramaribo, Suriname, from June 23 to 26.

The conference has brought together regional leaders and stakeholders from the energy sector to discuss opportunities and challenges facing the industry.

On Monday, Minister Bharrat participated in a ministerial plenary alongside counterparts from Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, the Dominican Republic, Ghana, and a representative of the United States Department of State.

Discussions centred on the theme, **”Energy as a Driver of National Transformation,”** with a focus on how hydrocarbon revenues can be utilized to finance roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure projects.

During the session, Minister Bharrat highlighted Guyana’s approach to investing oil revenues in biodiversity conservation and advancing a low-carbon development pathway.

Also representing Guyana at SEOGS 2026 are Senior Petroleum Coordinator at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Bobby Gossai, and Director of the Local Content Secretariat, Michael Munroe.
