Two injured after violent confrontation at Mahdia

Police have launched an investigation into an alleged serious wounding that occurred during the early hours of Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 111 Miles in Mahdia.
The incident reportedly involved two miners—a 27-year-old man from North Sophia, Georgetown, and a 33-year-old man from ‘B’ Field, Sophia, Georgetown.
Preliminary inquiries indicate that the men were near a supermarket consuming alcoholic beverages when an argument erupted and escalated into a physical confrontation.
During the altercation, both sustained injuries from objects that have not yet been identified.
The injured men were first treated at the Mahdia District Hospital before being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for further medical care.
The 27-year-old suffered a fractured jaw and was later discharged; he has since been arrested and remains in police custody.
The 33-year-old sustained a fractured skull and remains hospitalised under police guard.
Investigators have identified nearby CCTV cameras, which are expected to assist as investigations continue.
