The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has officially served cease-and-desist notices on several illegal backtrack boat operations within the Springlands Police Station district, East Berbice-Corentyne.

According to reports, early this morning, GRA officers served cease and desist orders to the following locations:

Eno Backtrack Boat Landing, Corriverton, Berbice

Fiaz Mursalin Gloves Backtrack Boat Landing

Burham Norah Cattie Backtrack Boat Landing

All three locations are situated at Springlands and No. 78 Seaside, Corriverton, Berbice.

Officials stated that the operations at these sites were being conducted in direct contravention of the Customs Act, Chapter 82:01.

The areas were also visited by police officials who advised individuals present and intending to use the illegal services to instead utilize the legal Guyana–Suriname travel option via the Canawaima Ferry, operating from the Stelling at Molson Creek, Corriverton, to facilitate cross-border movement.
