The Caribbean, Latin, and South America’s Zone of Peace was disturbed Saturday morning as bombings were reported in the Capital of Venezuela, followed by the sighting of smoke, fires, and the sounds of aircraft parading the Venezuelan airspace. Venezuela is Guyana’s western neighbour.
Venezuelan Nicholas Maduro has declared a state of Emergency following the explosions
Just around 02:00 AM Saturday, several International News Agencies began carrying reports from their sources within Venezuela that explosions, smoke, and planes were heard and seen in the capital of Venezuela and that these were mostly in and around the Presidential Palace of Nicholas Maduro and an area, also in the capital, which is largely occupied by the country’s military.
President Donald Trump has warned Venezuela of Ground Strikes and warned its president, Nicholas maduro, not to challenge the United States. Trump, one week ago, said the US was was keeping an oil tanker that was seized by the United States on December 10, 2025. One day ago, Venezuela’s President Nicholas Maduro was quoted in the press as saying that he is open to having a serious talk with the United States President Donald Trump.
Over the last few months, the United States has been launching a multiplicity of air strikes off the coast of Venezuela in what the US said was to curb the flow of drugs into the United States, which has been poisoning millions of Americans.
Nicholas Maduro and his government have, over the last five years, consistently ramped up their rhetoric of claiming that Guyana’s Essequibo Region belongs to Venezuela.
Contacted on Saturday morning by BIG Smith News Watch, President of Guyana, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, stated that the Guyana Defense Force, the Defense Board, and all local security agencies have been closely monitoring the situation. President Ali said the security posture of the State of Guyana is to ensure and consider the safety of all Guyanese and the country’s borders. The Guyanese Head of State also noted that the Caribbean Community (Caricom) Secretariat and the Secretary-General have been informed of the development. President Ali said he has nothing further to add at the moment since the situation in Venezuela is still active.
THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY
