Sol Guyana Inc. (Sol), the authorized distributor of Mobil fuels in Guyana through its Mobil-branded retail network, has commended the emergency services, authorities, and the retailer for their swift and professional response to the recent bombing incident at its Regent Street Location.

According to Sol, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Guyana Police Force (GPF) are leading a full-scale investigation into the explosion, which the GPF has confirmed is being treated as a criminal matter.

An individual believed to be responsible for the blast has been identified and is currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation.

The company emphasized its full cooperation with the authorities and noted that it has also initiated an internal review in collaboration with the retailer to support the ongoing probe.

“We recognize the public concern surrounding this devastating incident and reaffirms that the safety and well-being of our team, customers, and community remain our top priority,” the statement read.

The company has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic explosion that occurred on Sunday, October 26, at the Mobil Service Station on Regent Street, Georgetown

Sol extended heartfelt condolences to the family of six-year-old Soraya Bourne, who lost her life in the incident, and shared sympathies with those injured or otherwise affected.

The company assured that it will continue to provide verified updates as they become available and urged members of the public to follow official safety guidance and avoid the affected area while investigations continue.
