Charity Labourer Granted 300k Bail for Unlawful Wounding

A 35-year-old labourer of Charity Squatting Area, Essequibo Coast, has been charged with unlawful wounding following an altercation that left another man injured.
Dewayne Williams appeared before His Worship Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on Friday, October 3, 2025, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded not guilty.
The charge stems from an incident on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in which Williams allegedly wounded Nigel Benn, a 30-year-old labourer of Charity.
Bail was set at $300,000, with the condition that Williams must not approach the victim within 100 feet pending the outcome of the trial.
The matter has been adjourned to October 27, 2025, for the disclosure of statements.
