Cummings St Resident Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

A 19-year-old from Cummings Street, Georgetown, was on Friday placed before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on a charge of possessing child pornography on a computer system.

The accused, Neo Glen, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty where the charge was read to him. He pleaded not guilty.

It is alleged that, on September 8, 2025, at Vlissengen Road, Georgetown, Glen had in his possession pornographic videos of children on his computer system.

Glen was represented by attorney-at-law Kiswana Jefford, who applied for bail on his behalf.

Jefford argued that her client suffers from a mental illness, though she acknowledged that medical examinations conducted by the police concluded otherwise.

She explained that, while her client may have periods of clear thinking, this does not negate the presence of a mental illness.

Jefford further emphasised that Glen had no prior convictions or antecedents and resides at a fixed address with his mother at Cummings Street, Cummingsburg, Georgetown.

She asked the court to grant bail in a lenient amount.

The prosecutor strongly objected to bail, citing the seriousness of the offence and the potential penalties.

The court heard that investigators had taken the accused to a doctor, who determined that Glen had no mental illness that would make him unpredictable.

The prosecutor also revealed that several videos recovered showed the faces of multiple children clearly visible.

Although Glen initially claimed the phone in question was not his, forensic analysis reportedly linked the device to his number. Further analysis of the phone uncovered additional videos.

The prosecutor added that while in custody, Glen requested that his mother not be contacted.

Jefford interjected, stating that the prosecutor could not present such claims as evidence at this stage, and insisted that matters such as phone ownership must be determined at trial.

After considering the submissions, Magistrate McGusty granted Glen bail in the sum of $300,000.

She ordered that he report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters on the second Friday of every month between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The matter has been adjourned to October 17.
