Jessie Jones on $50,000 Bail for Assaulting Partner

August 25 2025
A 20-year-old man was on Friday brought before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.
The accused, Jessie Jones, appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
It is alleged that on Tuesday, August 19, at Bank DIH, Georgetown, Jones assaulted Nickacy Weeks, causing her actual bodily harm.
During the hearing, Jones’ attorney, Adrien Thompson, informed the court that his client no longer resides with the virtual complainant and has chosen to move in with his sister at Cummings Park.
Thompson suggested that the dispute between the parties could potentially be resolved through counselling, since Jones and Weeks shared a relationship.
In the courtroom, Weeks appeared visibly shaken and at times unresponsive, glancing toward Jones on several occasions.
Magistrate Singh indicated that a probation officer would be asked to speak with Weeks to determine whether she wished to continue the matter.
After some deliberation, Weeks returned to the courtroom and told the Magistrate that she intended to proceed with the charge. She also requested that Jones stay away from her.
The prosecutor objected to bail, pointing out that the complainant and the accused had been living at the same address.
He further revealed that a medical examination showed Weeks had swelling to her eyes and face.
Magistrate Singh subsequently granted Jones bail in the sum of $50,000 with strict conditions.
Jones is required to move away from the complainant, maintain a distance of at least 50 feet, and have no contact with her.
The Magistrate further ordered that a probation officer engage with Weeks.
The matter was adjourned until September 19.
