Brazilian National Charged with Murder

A Brazilian national has been formally charged with murder in connection with the February killing of a man in Guyana’s interior, prompting a court-issued arrest warrant and plans for an international manhunt.
On Friday morning, at approximately 09:30 hrs, the charge was read against Fernando Teles Pereira of Boa Vista, Brazil, at the Mackenzie Magistrate’s Court before Her Worship Rhondel Weaver. The offence, Murder Contrary to Common Law, relates to the death of Miguelys Centeno Gerdez, which occurred on February 20, 2025, at 9 Mile Trail, Mabura.
The court has postponed the matter to October 22, 2025, for report. In the meantime, the Guyana Police Force has confirmed that it will apply to INTERPOL for the issuance of a Red Notice to aid in Pereira’s capture.
Authorities have urged anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the nearest police station as investigations continue.
