April 16 2025— A motorist who was recently captured on social media speeding along the Mon Repos Public Road has been arrested and charged with multiple traffic violations.

On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, around 10:00 hrs, Jer Sweany Calder, the driver of motor car PAJ 4671, was taken into custody by Police.

The arrest followed public complaints and online footage showing the vehicle being driven at excessive speeds.

Calder was charged with two offences: Prohibition of Tinted Glass and Obscured Identification Mark (license plate). He subsequently appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs.

The defendant pleaded guilty to both charges and was fined $7,500 GYD for the illegal tint and $40,000 GYD for the obscured license plate.

The case highlights the continued efforts by law enforcement to crack down on road violations and ensure public safety, particularly in response to information shared through social media platforms.
