PARTY DONE! Cops charge 22 for breaching curfew to host birthday party

The police in Berbice have charged twenty –two persons including seven Venezuelans for breaching the coronavirus curfew and have since placed them on ten thousand dollars bail each until their court appearance.
The group was at the time celebrating the birth anniversary of one of the Venezuelans at Mahogany Hotel located at Skeldon, Corentyne Berbice.
Nikol Rodriguez, Buonetina Henriques Sarai, Teledo Mendoza Maria De Jesus, Brehapat Rashaw Joshua, Mapta Guzman Poola Yanireth, Moita Guzman Yamileth and Zorrill Carolina were the Venezuelans who were placed on the bail.
Owners/ operators of the hotel Sherwin Peterson and Carlos Angel along with O’Neil Lewis, Bertly Small, Abdul Haniff, Tamshewar Basdeo, Lennox Renaldo, Calvin Douglas, Savita Maniram, Arjan Jagdeo, Ramnarine Simmonols, Kevin Rambaran, and Richard Jeffrey were among the Guyanese who were also placed on station bail.
Initially, the group was to appear in court on Thursday but the court for the district was postponed and they as such the police decided to place the persons on bail until their court date.
Based on what was communicated to BIG Smith News Watch, Tuesday evening, the group was having the party at the hotel with loud music and a heavy drinking spree as they carried on their celebration in a carefree manner.
Guyana like the rest the world has been imposing through a public ordinance, a number of restrictions to social activities and events in order to reduce the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
The charge laid against the fete lovers was ‘breach of restriction on social activities and breach of restriction to stay home’.
The Guyana Police Force has made it clear that they will be turning up the pressure as it relates to enforcement of the public ordinance that governs the coronavirus.
The police on the Corentyne are pleading with persons to abide by the law as a part of ensuring safety for themselves as well as the general public. The police in Berbice have sounded a warning that if persons continue to breach the law and disobey the social distancing guidelines, the law will take its course.
As to date, there are 3.78 million confirmed cars worldwide, including 265,000 death with 1.26 million persons recovered, meanwhile, Guyana records, 93 confirmed cases with 10 fatalities and 27 persons recovered.
