Two Killed in Land of Canaan Crash

–After Driver Allegedly Loses Control
February 3 2025- Police are investigating a fatal accident that claimed the lives of two young men on Sunday night along the Land of Canaan public road, East Bank Demerara.
According to a statement issued by the Guyana Police Force, the incident, which occurred at approximately 11:00 PM on February 2, 2025, involved a motor car, PAD 7677, driven by 22-year-old Ronaldo Gordon of Lot 354 Timehri North, East Bank Demerara. His passenger, 23-year-old Joel Sutherland of Lot 94 Timehri North, was seated in the front seat.
Preliminary reports indicate that the vehicle was heading north along the western drive lane at high speed when the driver lost control. The car veered into the eastern drive lane before crashing into a concrete bridge rail.
The impact caused severe damage to the vehicle and ejected both occupants, leaving them with critical injuries.
They were picked up by passersby and transported to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where they were examined by Dr. Clementson and pronounced dead on arrival.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the accident.
