On Friday, officers from the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) conducted an operation in the Greater Georgetown area, intercepting a motor car.

A search of the vehicle revealed a large Ziploc bag containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.

Two individuals were arrested and taken to CANU’s Headquarters, where the suspected narcotic tested positive for cannabis and weighed one kilogram.

Continuing their efforts, CANU officers conducted a follow-up operation on Saturday, July 20, 2024, also in the Greater Georgetown area.

During a search of an abandoned house, they discovered a black plastic bag containing 916 grams of cannabis and a .38 revolver.

The seized cannabis, known as “Sour Diesel,” is a foreign strain with a street value of GYD$700,000 per kilogram.

Both operations are part of CANU’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
