New Amsterdam, Berbice driver Prince Sinclair, who allegedly struck down a traffic policeman and drove off with the victim on his car bonnet now faces several charges.

Sinclair, 36, of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, was charged with four counts of dangerous driving;  prohibition of tinted glass, conduct of driver, maintenance of vehicle, stopping within 50 feet of a corner, wanton driving, disorderly behaviour and failing to stop when directed by a policeman in uniform.

He was placed on $145,000 bail and ordered to lodge his passport when he appeared in the New Amsterdam Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 29.

He entered a not guilty plea and is scheduled to return to court on Friday, 27 October.

It is alleged that the victim, Constable 24441 Fredericks was on patrol duty when he saw Sinclair in motor vehicle PLL 4242, obstructing the free flow of traffic.

On being told of the offence, the accused allegedly cursed Constable Fredericks, entered his car, then drove towards the traffic policeman and struck him on the right leg.

Constable Fredricks fell onto the car bonnet, and Sinclair allegedly continued to drive along Main Street and on to Republic Road. He was subsequently arrested.
