Almost three months after they were involved in separate road fatalities, a 19-year-old motorcyclist and a 21-year-old driver have been slapped with causing death charges.

David Simon Isaac, 21, of Parika Façade, East Bank Essequibo, was charged on Friday, September 29 with causing the death of Lloyd Garraway, 45, who was struck down on June 19, 2023, on the Hydronie Public Road, East Bank Essequibo.

Isaac was placed on $500 000 bail when he appeared in the Leonora Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Zameena Ali Seepaul.

He is to return to court  on December 5, 2023.

Lloyd Garraway, of Lot 1801 Parika, EBE, was attempting to cross the Hydronie Public Road at around 4.40 a.m. when he was struck by the alleged speeding driver of motor vehicle PAD 3432.

Garraway succumbed at the Leonora Cottage Hospital.

Also charged is 19-year-old motor cyclist Anil Ruplal, who allegedly struck down and killed 26 year old motorcyclist Muneshwar Singh on the Leonora Public Road, West Coast Demerara on June 30.

Ruplal, of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving on Friday, September 29. He was granted $500, 000 bail when he appeared in the Leonora Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Zameena Ali Seepaul.

He’s to return to court on December 5, 2023.

It is alleged that Ruplal was riding motorcycle CL 9563 when he crashed into  another motorcycle CM 1052, which Muneshwar Singh was riding.

Police said Ruplal was heading east along the northern side of the road at a fast rate and lost control when he overtook a red motorcar. He then collided with Singh’s cycle.

Both men sustained injuries. They were rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where Singh succumbed.
