Police are investigating an incident resulting in the death of 13-year-old Rovin Williams of Onderneeming Sand Pit Essequibo Coast, which occurred on Monday at approximately 17:30 hours at Adventure, Essequibo Coast.

Enquiries disclosed that the victim and several others went to pick mangoes in Onderneeming Sand Pit and after they finished loading a canter, headed to Adventure Essequibo Coast.

According to the police, Williams was seated in the tray along with three others and the driver. One of the men have reported that as the canter was reversing in the driveway of the yard at Adventure, the victim jumped off the canter and was walking behind the canter in the said direction.

He shouted to the victim who stopped and was hit by canter. He then shouted for the driver to stop to which he did but the canter had already ran over the victim and what appeared to be blood was coming from his mouth. He was rushed to the Suddie Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival and the body is presently lying at the Suddie mortuary awaiting post mortem.

Further investigations are underway.
