Within the last week, the Agriculture Ministry has made several strides in ensuring Guyanese youths are being given fair opportunity to get involved in farming.

Just recently, the Minister visited Buxton on the East Coast Demerara where he handed over several items to encourage youth involvement in farming and farming activities.

Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha noted that he has been working with the group since he became minister to develop agriculture in the villages.

The Minister had also made contributions to the Winifred Gaskin Secondary School and Manchester Secondary School, in Region Six.

The schools received 100 broiler chicks each, and feed to assist with the SBAs for students preparing to write CSEC Examinations.

Minister Mustapha stressed on the importance of promoting agriculture in schools, adding that the ministry will work to develop the schools’ agriculture departments.

He also emphasized that with Guyana leading the charge in the region in terms of agricultural development, it was critical for more young people to get involved in agriculture.
