A young woman who was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), is now on a journey to help other women with similar issues.

Earlecia Hieronymo is the founder of ’KHAYR’ -a plant-based organic manufacturer of personal care and wellness products.

PCOS is a set of symptoms related to a hormonal imbalance that can affect women and girls of reproductive age. Its symptoms are the absence of regular ovulation, leading to irregular menstrual periods or no periods at all, high levels of androgens (a type of hormone) or signs of high androgens, such as having an excess body or facial hair, abnormal growths on one or both ovaries—these growths were thought to be fluid-filled sacs called cysts. One in every 5 women suffer from this condition which eventually leads to other severe complications.

Earlecia sat with Big Smith News Watch for an interview where she spoke about being diagnosed with PCOS and she credited the use of her home-made organic remedies that helped her throughout her life and also through her pregnancy.

“When I went to the doctor, I was told that I wasn’t able to be have a child but I used the negative as motivation and I began to use home made organic remedies that was used in my home during childhood and it proved to be beneficial and worked’’ the businesswoman said.

In 2022 Earlecia gave birth to a baby girl, which she describes to this day; Is the best thing to happen in her life. This motivated her to expand her brand to include items for men and babies.

She noted that the baby was born very small and as any new mom would do, she snapped into protection mode, she kept her family close as they helped her baby by means of giving her the necessary care and attention needed during that period.

She added that at just 22 years old, her belief in herbal remedies was strong and she’s even used and administered the same organic remedies to her baby who has grown up to be very healthy.

Earlecia went on to manufacture an organic skin-care and hair- care product line, which is now creating a buzz on the local market.

She said that Guyanese should give her plant-based baby care line, the first of this kind in Guyana, a fair try. She is also letting Guyanese know that many more products are in the making to be introduced to the market.

Hieronymo is also aspiring to venture into catering, real estate and the wholesaling industries.
