On Wednesday night in Anns Grove, the police acting on information arrested 37 year old Alvin Reid called ‘Satan’ of Nimrod Street Anns Grove East Coast Demerara.

Alvin Reid was mistakenly released from jail back in 2019 where the Court ordered him released on the lesser charge of some offences but to stand trial for the murder of an Ann Grove girl.

He was wanted by the police for murder, rape, discharging a loaded firearm, larceny of cattle and other offences.

When Alvin ‘Satan’ was arrested on Wednesday he had wounds on his body. Alvin appears to have been receiving refuge from persons within the same Anns Grove Community. Alvin some years ago, raped and murder a young girl from the community and was on the run before he was arrested and charge before being mistakenly released from jail.

In August 2016, Alvin ‘Satan’ Reid raped and murdered 14 year old Malika Hamilton at the Hope Canal. The two were known to each other and she had gone to swim with him at the Canal after an argument with her father over a mobile phone.

In 2019 when the court ordered Reid released on the lesser charge for other offences he had committed, the interviewing rank at the prison was unaware that although Reid was ordered released on those lesser charge, the Court had also ordered that he stand trial for the Murder of Malika Hamilton.

By the time that information reached the jailhouse, Reid was already released and out of the prison environment.

It was then that the police issued a wanted bulletin for him.
