A team from the Ministry of Education on Monday visited the mother of the late Tucville Secondary school student Makeida Quick who tragically lost her life on Sunday following an accident. The team from the ministry expressed sympathy on behalf of the Minister of Education and staff of the ministry.

During the visit, the school welfare department committed to providing emotional and psychological counselling for Makeida’s younger sister who witnessed the accident.

Earlier the Newsroom reported that in an interview with the victim’s mother, she plead for justice. According to the mother, Melissa Vossey, her daughter was standing at the corner of the road with her bicycle waiting for the motorcyclist, 21-year-old Glenton Redman to pass. Redman was speeding and lost control of the motorcycle when he hit the teen who fell into a nearby trench.

According to the police report, Redman was reportedly in a lying position on his motorcycle performing stunts on the roadway when he lost control and collided with the teenage girl.

Both Redman and Quick were picked up and taken to the Georgetown Hospital where the teen was pronounced dead on arrival and the motorcyclist was admitted with injuries. The motorcyclist is currently under Police guard as he is recovering and is now likely to face a charges.
