Linden man remanded for trafficking Jamaican women

REMANDED: Tito Browne

A 44-year-old man who is accused of trafficking two Jamaican women and withholding their passports has been charged and remanded to prison.

Tito Browne known as ‘Tommy’ or ‘Yankee’ of Linden, appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Linden Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Browne was charged with two counts of trafficking in person, contrary to Section 3 (1) (a) of the Combating of Trafficking in Persons Act.

He was also charged with two counts of withholding identification, that is to say, passports, contrary to Section 4 of the said Act.

Browne pleaded not guilty to all the charges after they were read to him. He was remanded to prison until May 31, 2021.

The Guyana Police Force had earlier on issued a wanted bulletin for Browne.
