31-Y-O Teacher Becomes Second Fatality in #62 Village Crash

Regional Division Six Commander, Shivpersaud Bacchus, has confirmedthat the driver of minibus BAB 7570, 31-year-old Jerome Bernard, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday evening while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Bernard, a teacher attached to the Central Corentyne Secondary School, was transporting students home from the Regional Sports Championship when the tragic accident occurred along the #62 Public Road, Corentyne.
Bernard died at approximately 17:30 hrs, making him the second fatality of the incident.
A 16-year-old student, Jodea Seline of Limlair Village, had earlier succumbed at the No. 75 Village Regional Hospital.
Two others are believed to be in a critical condition while 14 other students were also injured and remain under medical care.
Bernard’s body is currently at the GPHC mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
