11-Y-O Wakenaam boy among missing after MV Barima sinking

Ronaldo Poun, an 11-year-old from Sans Souci, Wakenaam Island, is among the persons who were onboard the distressed MV Barima, which sank off the coast of Essequibo between July 18 and 19, 2026, while travelling from Georgetown to Port Kaituma.
His cousin, Kelisha Adams told BIG Smith News Watch that Poun was travelling with his uncle to spend time with his father when the vessel went down.
The relative said the young boy remains missing and is appealing for any information that could assist the family in locating him.
