๐๐๐ฒ ๐, ๐๐๐๐ – Residents of the new La Bonne Intention (LBI) Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara were engaged on Friday by Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, and Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Anil Nandlall.
Also present were Member of Parliament, Suresh Singh; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Works; the Divisional Commander and technical officials of the Central Housing & Planning Authority (CH&PA) and Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI).
The interactive meeting allowed residents to voice issues related to road infrastructure, electricity, water access, security, etc.
Responding to infrastructure concerns, Minister Croal stated that works for an asphaltic access road near the front of the new scheme will commence, as a contract for the works is being signed. Tenders will also be issued for concrete roads within the young professionals development.
As occupancy increases roadwork will also done at the section where lands were allocated. Moreover, the main thoroughfare used by heavy-duty vehicles will be continually graded. Street lights will be installed to replace non-functional ones, enhancing safety and visibility in the scheme.
To further improve security, Attorney General Nandlall said that a police outpost will be placed in a suitable location within the scheme. Coordination between the Ministry of Agriculture and the relevant famer will also be done to resolve issues related to roaming cattle and the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) will be engaged on power supply matters. Meanwhile, in the area of water, Minister Croal spoke of plans for water supply expansion and treated water access.
