Venezuelan women granted bail for grievous bodily harm

Two Venezuelan nationals residing in Bartica have been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm following an incident involving another woman.
Charged are 20-year-old self-employed Beilyn Hernandes and 21-year-old saleswoman Benyerlin Hernandes, both of Third Avenue, Bartica.
The charge, under Section 50 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01, relates to an alleged assault involving Yillen Romero.
The women were arrested on Sunday, August 9, and charged on Tuesday, August 11.
They appeared before Magistrate Caressa Henry at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, where the charge was read to them.
Both women pleaded not guilty and were each granted bail in the sum of $75,000.
The matter was adjourned to September 8, 2026, for continuation.
