A 44-year-old man from De Groot-EnKline, Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara, has reportedly confessed to killing his wife, 46-year-old Shavannie Hanoman, called “Bo”, and dumping her body in a nearby trench.
Hanoman was reported missing after she failed to return home on Wednesday, June 24. Her body was discovered floating in a trench on Thursday, June 25, a short distance from the couple’s home.
Police said the body bore injuries to the neck and other parts of the body. Information reaching this publication indicates that a post-mortem examination revealed Hanoman sustained blunt trauma to the head and multiple stab wounds to her back.
A police source confirmed that the woman’s husband, who had been taken into custody following the discovery of her body, has since admitted to the killing. Relatives of the deceased indicated that the fatal attack allegedly stemmed from an argument between the couple.
Hanoman’s body has since been handed over to relatives as investigations continue.
The killing comes days after the body of Cuban national Dailen Gomez was found in an Enmore backdam. A police constable has reportedly confessed to her murder.
