A 25-year-old Belmont, Trinidad woman has been charged with the murder of Guyanese accountant Reagan Henderson Reece, whose bound and wrapped body was found in a grave on July 23.

Police reports out of Trinidad state that Alima Reid, also called ‘Shorts’, an inmate of the Arouca Women’s Prison, was charged on Monday, August 21, 2023, after officers from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations  executed a warrant at the prison.

She appeared before an Arima magistrate on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.  Reid has been in the woman’s prison since July 24, when she was initially charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Big Smith News Watch understands that homicide investigators had detained Alima Reid prior to finding Reece’s body.

Monetary gain was said to be the motive for his murder.

Reece, 45, reportedly vanished on June 22, 2023. He had recently visited a barber shop, reports stated.

He was wearing black three-quarter pants, black tee shirt and black sneakers and was last seen at Lopinot Junction, Arouca, driving his Hyundai Tucson. The vehicle had also vanished.

Investigators were told that Reece’s vehicle was spotted several times, and there was an attempt to sell it.

On Sunday, July 23, police, responding to a tip, found and exhumed Reece’s corpse, which bore gunshot wounds, from a grave in Windy Hill, Arouca.

The Daily Express said that “at 2.45 p.m., homicide officers went to Palm Drive. About 100 feet off the road was an abandoned shack. Near the shack was a freshly dug mound, covered by a circularly wooden board. A cadaver dog and undertakers were brought.”

“Six feet down, they found the body, wrapped in cloth and plastic. There was a tattoo on the chest.”

While there are suggestions that others might have been involved in the killing and disposal of the corpse, no one else has been arrested.
