36 year old Russel Bowman, a taxi driver of lot 181 South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown and 28 year old Ivor Billingy called Wildfire of Back Circle, East Ruimveldt were yesterday arrested by the police in ‘C’ Division.

The arrest came after the men were observed trailing a man from Georgetown to the East Coast of Demerara and the police were informed.

The police put a posture in place and managed to corner the vehicle as the men attempted to escape.

‘Wildfire’ made a dash for an empty lot where he was seen stashing an object but the police managed to searched the area and found 9MM Taurus Pistol and nine matching rounds.

The vehicle the men were using at the time was heavily tinted and also had a fake registration number covering the original one.

Police sources related that the original registration plate of the vehicle is PTT 4405 while the fake number being used at the time to conceal the authentic one, was PMM 5467.

The men were taken to the Sparendaam Police Station where they remain in custody even as the exhibits were lodged and the gun taken for ballistic tests.
