Murdered: 12 Y-O Amanda Smith

-“I want him to say why he killed her,” says victim’s dad

By Michael Jordan

The father of slain schoolgirl Amanda Smith says it appears that his 12-year-old daughter’s killer attacked her while she was asleep, then dragged her into the yard where he brutally snuffed her life out.

Big Smith News Watch understands that two of Amanda’s siblings claimed that they awoke and saw an intruder in the house shortly before Amanda’s battered body was found in the family’s Aishalton, South Rupununi backyard.

Her father, Heazron Smith, now wants the 17-year-old who killed his daughter to say why he committed the heinous act, “or who sent him.”

Mr. Smith believes that the juvenile sneaked in via the back door, which the eldest child had left open while he used an outside washroom.

He said that his five children, including Amanda, were asleep when he and wife went out on April 22.

He explained that Amanda and her nine-year-old brother occupy one room; the two other girls another, while the 14-year-old son sleeps in a hammock in the hallway.

‘PULLING AT SHIRT’

He said the nine-year-old alleged that while asleep, he felt Amanda “pulling his shirt.”

While half-awake, the child allegedly saw someone in the bedroom. However, he then went back to sleep.

Meanwhile, the 14-year-old son, who was in the washroom reportedly heard someone ‘slam’ the back door.

The lad then went to check on his siblings, and realised that Amanda was missing. He then saw the other children sitting up in their beds, terrified.

One of them would later claim to have seen someone in the house.

Using a flashlight, the 14-year-old then went into the backyard, where he saw the 17-year-old suspect, who is a relative, fleeing from the area.

He then saw “a white object.” That ‘white object’ Amanda, dead and still dressed in white vest and long black skirt.

The body was still there when Mr. Smith arrived home at around 9.00 p.m.

“It was very shocking to come home and see her body,” he said.

POSSIBLE  MOTIVE?

Asked about a possible motive, Mr. Heazron Smith revealed that this may be linked to a dispute over a recent death, from ill health, of a relative of the suspect.

“I really want to know, and my wife, who is his sister, really want to know why (he did it) or who sent him to do this thing. We really want him to tell the truth. Only he can say why.

“I was there when he was saying that she fell and hit her head, but I knew he was lying.”

Asked about the teen’s claims that he had visited the home “to watch the children”, Mr. Smith insisted that he and his wife would not have allowed anyone in their home at that late hour.

The suspect’s father says he has been pleading with his son to come clean with the investigators.

The juvenile has told detectives that Amanda was “rushing to the back door” to use the outdoor washroom, when “he put out his foot and tripped her.”

He claimed that she struck her head on the wall near the door and became unconscious. He claimed that he panicked and took her to the back of the yard. It was then that he heard the schoolgirl’s brother calling for her. He then fled the scene.

But an autopsy revealed that the 12-year-old had suffered extensive injuries that did not occur as the suspect claimed.

She died from brain hemorrhage, which was caused by blunt trauma to the head and face, compounded by compression injuries to the neck.
