Police Sergeant under close arrest as Springlands Licensing Office faces probe

The Guyana Police Force has launched an investigation into the operations of the Licensing and Certifying Office at the Springlands Police Station, with a police sergeant attached to the office placed under close arrest.
According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force, ranks from the Special Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) visited the office on Thursday, August 13, where relevant records and other documents were secured for examination.
Investigators are conducting a detailed review of the office’s operations, including records and transactions, as part of the ongoing probe.
The police sergeant is assisting investigators while the investigation continues.
The Guyana Police Force said it maintains a zero-tolerance approach to corruption, misconduct and breaches of public trust, adding that any rank found culpable of criminal or disciplinary wrongdoing will face appropriate action under the law and the Force’s disciplinary procedures.
