Businessman shot as gunmen terrorize Festival City family

The bullet which grazed the foot of Mr. Lieben

Injured is 55 Year Old Terrence Lieben of 4078 E. Burrows Street, Festival City Georgetown. The businessman lives with his wife and three children, ages 1, 13, and 17 who were all at the mercy of two gun touting bandits on Tuesday afternoon.

Lieben told this publication about 17:30hours he and his family drove into the neighborhood as per normal (using the same route) when he subconsciously noticed two young men riding pedal cycles slowly gaffing with each other, he said he did not pay them much attention.

As he and his family arrived at their entrance, the businessman related to this publication that he was in the process of placing the car into the yard while his son was taking out the trash.

It was at that point that the bandits came into the yard, forced the family into the home, proceeded to rob them, and ransacked the house. The ordeal according to Mr. Lieben, lasted for thirty minutes.

One man from the neighborhood told this publication that he saw when the men were riding around the community and began to observe them. However, when the Liebens’ came home he saw the said two men approached the family and they all went into the house so he suspected that they might have been known to each other.

We were told that the resident however became suspicious when he noticed the bicycles parked on the bridge, lights off in the house and that everyone was still inside for such a long period, at the moment that he was contemplating to investigate the strange occurrence, he heard two gunshots and it became clear.. the Liebens’ were being robbed.

After the gunshots, the men walked out of the house jumped on their bicycles and rode slowly out of the community.

Mr. Lieben told BIG Smith News Watch that they have been living at the location for three years now and this is the second time they were targets for bandits. Last evening, the bandits took away the gold jewellery the family members were wearing at the time as well as those put away for safekeeping.

They bundled all their loot into a bag, including the house and car keys before making good their escape.

Mr. Lieben said before leaving, the bandits did tell him that they will be shooting him in the leg. Two shots were fired but it was only one that grazed him while the other missed as the lights were off at the time they fired at him.

When we arrived at the location, friends and other family members were already gathered as they sought to provide comfort to the traumatized family, especially the children.

The police investigations are ongoing.
