No ambulance available as bleeding man collapses on Regent Street

Concern and frustration followed the collapse of a man outside Courts on Regent Street earlier today, after an ambulance was reportedly unavailable to respond to the medical emergency.

Concerned citizens told BIG Smith News Watch that they were informed by emergency services when they called, four ambulances were out of service at the time.

Shortly afterwards, a functioning ambulance was seen passing the scene.

Persons at the location said they contacted the service again and were reportedly told that the ambulance was already responding to an accident and wont be able to attend the man.

The man, who is employed by Calibur Security Services, was left in a serious condition as persons waited for assistance.

A company vehicle arrived at the scene, but those present were reportedly reluctant to move him because of the apparent severity of his condition.

Family members eventually arrived and transported him in a private vehicle to seek emergency medical attention.

Persons at the scene said the man appeared to be suffering severe abdominal pain, bleeding and distress and was barely able to move. The exact nature of his medical condition remains unclear.

The incident has renewed concerns about the availability of emergency ambulance services and the risks faced by citizens when urgent medical assistance is not immediately accessible.
