Residents and businesses between Grove and Nandy Park on the East Bank of Demerara are experiencing a power interruption due to a system disturbance affecting the area.

Guyana Power and Light Inc. (Guyana Power and Light Inc.) said its teams were immediately deployed to investigate and restore service following the outage.

In a follow-up update, the company confirmed that a damaged component at the Golden Grove Substation has been identified as the cause of the disruption. Repair work is currently underway, with crews working to restore electricity supply as quickly and safely as possible. Power is expected to be fully restored by approximately 18:00 hrs.

GPL acknowledged the inconvenience caused to residents, households, and businesses, and expressed regret for the disruption while thanking customers for their patience.

A further update indicated that incremental restoration has already begun, with power gradually being returned to affected areas as repairs continue until full service is restored.
