Yesterday the Government of Guyana took its ‘bringing government to the people’ initiative to Region Three where they set up shop at Lenora Synthetic Track located at West Coast Demerara. It was of these events that BIG Smith Crime Watch visited since the initiative began earlier this year after a hiatus from an initial start last year at the Square of the Revolution.

At yesterday’s event, every conceivable government agency was present with their various services under the umbrella Ministries which were headed by the subject ministers.
These ranged from the Ministry of the Presidency to the Ministry of Local Government.  It appeared that the Ministries of Communities Central Housing and Planning Authority, Public Health, Public Security, Agriculture and Social Protection were the agencies with the highest level of engagements from the members of the public.

Some ministers were seen sitting under tenants with their technical staff and engaging the citizens as they came under the various big tents to have their concerns raised and addressed, while in some instances, some ministers were seen walking through the crowd and engaging citizens.
Over at the Ministry of Public Security tent, when we arrived the subject minister had just left but the technical staff were still present as well as the Permanent Secretary and number of officers from the fire, prisons and police services.

Commissioner of Police Leslie James was also present at the event and could be seen interacting with a number of persons.
Following the event vat Lenora, the Ministers fan out across the region From Parika to Wales where they conducted community meeting for those residents who were not able to make it to the Lenora event.
