Security Guard on $100,000 Bail for Lying to Police

July 31 2025
A 66-year-old security officer has been granted $100,000 bail after being charged with providing false information to a police officer.
David Alexander appeared before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Wednesday, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The allegation stems from an incident on July 21, 2025, at the Brickdam Police Station, where Alexander is accused of knowingly giving false information to a police corporal.
In his defense, Alexander told the court that he had a dispute with his landlord, Samantha Hubbard, and became concerned after finding his apartment door ajar.
Believing something was amiss, he said he reported the matter to the police.
He explained that at the time, his laptop was the only valuable item in the apartment, and he initially assumed it had been stolen.
However, the laptop was later recovered, and he described his report to the police as a mistake made in the heat of the moment.
The matter has been adjourned to August 6, 2025.
