Remove Edghill- Linden PPP group urges party leadership

October 18, 2025
A group of Linders who represent the interests of the People's Progressive Party Civic/s interests in Region 10 have taken to social media, calling for the removal of Juan Edghill as the party’s regional representative in that region. Edghill is the Minister of Public Works.
The group, which included long-standing PPP activist Sherry James, accused Edghill of forcing the regional stalwarts into a corner. It is alleged that on Friday night, the comrades went to the Party’s Regional Office to hold a scheduled meeting, but when they got there, the gates to the facility were closed.
“All ah we share the same view out hay that over a period of over ten years (15 years someone in the background also stated), continuous issues, problems with the one Bishop Edghill. Now it has grown now to a victimization stage of which we, the party comrades, has been completely put out… from even this office (the PPP Regional Office in Region 10).” One comrade stated
They are of the view that ‘if you finish with we’ it is only fitting that they be given something for their time spent with the party and as such are asking for the party’s leadership to give them a hearing.
After being locked out from entering the office in region ten, the group claims that they attempted to make contact with senior party officials, but no one took their calls, which has contributed to them going public with their discomfort.
“We had to take this stand, we had to come out bold because unto this minute, nobody answering their phones. So I here like the others and we protesting tonight, but after tonight as the days goes by until we get answers, we will be out here asking for answers to our many questions and one such that I personally, and I putting it out there, that I have with Edghill it must be addressed as early as possible and I am advocating, I and the group that I represent, are advocating that Edghill no longer be in Linden as any cluster leader” One of the persons from the group stated.
It is also noted by the group that the PPP has done everything remotely possible that should have seen them winning region 10 at the recently concluded elections, but the ‘arches against us’, as one member put it, resulted in the loss of the Region to another political party.
“The arches that been against us at the last elections had showed clearly that Edghill spell doom for us in region 10, so why would we want to keep him. So comrades, we are here tonight openly expressing our views on how we have been treated."
"Good night I have a view as a long standing party comrade, I am not happy with the way comrades are being treated it seems as those we are being pushed aside, we have many issues to address, we need the party at central to come to our rescue, we are the PPP, yes we must include others but at the same time including others does not mean that members should be pushed aside, we want to have a voice.” Stated one of the disgruntled members.
The group is now requesting the Central Executive Committee of the PPP to meet with them, as they have claimed that leaders, including President Ali and Party General Secretary Bharrat Jagdeo, are aware of their discomfort, as many complaints have been filed against Juan Edghill before with no resolution.
“I have been around the PPP, give them my full support publicly all over everybody and there have certain things that happening I linden should be addressed with people concerned because its getting, getting worst and worst and worst and they have some people in Linden here that don’t have no regards and I don’t feel they are working in the best interest of the party because the PPP from my stand point have done everything across the board that we should have win Linden, they have done everything across the board the PP have done but there are certain leaders in Linden here that need to be addressed” one member noted.
Region 10 has long been a stronghold of the Peoples National Congress Reform during general and Regional Elections. However, the People's Progressive Party Civic has, over the years, gradually gained ground in the region at the polls. Still, at the last election, the region voted heavily for newcomer Win Invest in Nationhood.
