Hospitalized: Shaquille Wilbury

Mark Prince was shot and killed on the spot, Shaquille Wilbury of Buxton was shot and injured and is under police guard at a hospital while Jonathan Harry 24 years of Lot 124 East Ruimveldt and Akande Ross 20 years old of 1387 Herstelling were up to late last evening arrested and in police custody and even as a female remains on the run.

DEAD: Mark Prince of Buxton with his cutlass next to him

The shooting and subsequent arresting of the three stemmed from a robbery at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo which saw a license firearm holder responding to distress sounds coming from an apartment next door to him.

It turned out that as he went to investigate, he was attacked with a cutlass and opened fire, which allowed the bandits to turn their attention to him while the victims of the robbery managed to escape.

After mark Prince was shot, the other bandits attempted to flee in the scene in motorcar PTT 8606, a black Blue Bird which is registered to a female of Coldigen, East Coast Demerara.

The car registered to one Barker of Coldigen and which the bandits used to travel to the robbery scene

It was Wilbury who drove the car from Georgetown to the location of the crime but after he was shot, Harry in the escape took possession of the wheel when they were nabbed by a roadblock which was set up at Den Amstel Police Station.

At the Den Amstel Police Station on Friday evening, the firearm holder and businessman spoke with BIG Smith News Watch.

“I was home just after seven and I heard a commotion over at the apartment next door and I went to investigate. When I got there I saw a man fighting up and then he started advancing towards me with a cutlass and I fire at him” the young man related.

He explained that the person who were being robbed are Chinese nationals and they are tenants of his who have been operating a supermarket in the area for just over a year now.

On Friday evening, ranks from the Criminal Investigation’s major Crimes Unit also travelled to the region to assist the divisional detectives with their investigation.
