MV BARIMA DISTRESS: 68-y-o was heading home after visiting daughter

Mariam Bernard, a 68-year-old Resident of Port Kaituma, is among the persons who were onboard the distressed MV Barima, which sank off the coast of Essequibo between July 18 and 19, 2026, on a voyage from Georgetown to Port Kaituma.
Her son Wallace told BIG Smith News Watch that his mother was in Georgetown to spend time with her daughter, who traveled from the Cayman Islands. He said his sister returned to the Cayman Islands on Saturday while his mother boarded the MV Barima for Port Kaituma
Ms Bernard is the wife of former Member of Parliament Richard Allen.
