A tragic turn of events as Sarah Bacchus Arjoon, a 56-year-old Saleswoman residing at Lot 755 Recht-Door-Zee, was found dead in her home yesterday.

The alleged perpetrator, her husband Khemraj Arjoon, 69, later died at the West Demerara Regional Hospital after reportedly ingesting a poisonous substance while under guard.

The incident unfolded between 11:30 hrs and 15:30 hrs at the couple’s residence.

Sarah’s lifeless body was discovered by her 13-year-old daughter upon returning home at 15:30 hrs, lying in a pool of blood in the bedroom. Nearby, her husband was found struggling to breathe, emitting a strong odor of poison.

According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force, a note implicating Sarah in an alleged affair was discovered nearby, written on a piece of cardboard. Subsequently, neighbors and law enforcement authorities were notified.

Upon police arrival, Khemraj Arjoon confessed to ingesting a poisonous substance and directed officers to the location where he disposed of the suspected bottle containing the toxic substance.

Additionally, authorities recovered a knife believed to be the murder weapon and the note from the scene.

Dr. Sonia Gray pronounced Sarah dead at the scene, with her body now awaiting a post-mortem examination at the Ezekiel Funeral Home.

Tragically, the murder suspect succumbed to his condition last night while receiving medical treatment at the West Demerara Regional Hospital. As investigations continue, authorities are piecing together the events leading to this harrowing incident in Recht-Door-Zee.
