Moral/ practical support from Commander Moore/ team for ranks injured in accidents
Commander Moore meeting with the two ranks during the visit over the weekend
In a remarkable show of empathy and kindness to two police officers who were injured in separate accidents, their seniors paid them a much-needed visit. This served to remind the ranks of their value to the Guyana Police Force.
The visit also served to motivate the ailing officers who were moved to tears when they expressed their pleasure at the thoughtfulness of those who took time out of their busy schedule to take an interest in them.
Constable Harris (23688) and Corporal Green (22123) were visited on Sunday by  Commander Dion Moore of Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) along with the Force Welfare officer, and It’s Human Resource head.
On January 15, 2020, Constable Harris along with other ranks were on duty with a force-issued All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) at Potataro Road Bartica when he fell off the motorcycle and was picked up in an unconscious state. he was first rushed to the regional hospital in Bartica before being transferred to Georgetown where he underwent brain surgery.
The team also took hampers for their fellow servicemen. The two officers were involved in two separate incidents which resulted in both of them having to undergo surgeries.
Since then, they have both been unable to perform their duties as they also remain on sick leave.
Commander Moore and the Welfare Officer encouraged the officers to take time to heal before they return to duty. The officers explained that while they are needed on the force, they need their full health to provide that service effectively.
The two officers were reminded that their colleagues will continue to support them as they remain assets to the Force. Commander Moore reminded the officers that the Guyana Police Force Administration have their interests at heart and will continue to support them in whatever way they can.
