Mason Fined, Sentenced to Community Service for Cannabis Offence

November 17 2025 

A 43-year-old mason from Number 5 Village, West Coast Berbice, was fined and ordered to perform community service after pleading guilty to a narcotics charge.

Sherwin Charles appeared before Magistrate O. Chandan at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with possession of 44.5 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

Charles pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined GYD $66,750.

He was also sentenced to six months of community service.
