Guyana’s fairy tale championship run culminated in absolute glory on Sunday night, as the hosts delivered a thrilling 83-74 triumph over Jamaica at Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, securing the country’s hard-fought qualification for the 2026 CentroBasket Women’s Championship in breathtaking fashion.
The decisive victory propelled Guyana to silver medal finish with an impressive 3-1 record, capping off a remarkable championship campaign highlighted by electrifying home crowd support and championship-caliber performances when it mattered most. After a tightly contested first half, the hosts seized complete control in the decisive second half, with Ruth Adams and Joy Brown combining for a devastating offensive onslaught that ultimately proved insurmountable for the Jamaican challengers.
Ruth Adams orchestrated Guyana’s championship-clinching assault with a commanding 24-point masterclass, while Joy Brown delivered a phenomenal double-double performance of 23 points and 17 rebounds that absolutely dominated the glass and controlled the interior battle.
